Recording Artist, Arranger, Producer, Performer, Featured Soloist, Song Writer; Born and raised in New Orleans, I was introduced to music at an extremely early age as a toddler living in the French Quarter of New Orleans on Burgundy St. I heard and listened to the sounds of bands playing, people singing, as well as music in the streets during Mardi Gras. My Uncle used to play “Stand By Me” on his Hollow Body Acoustic guitar . My Aunt listened to her Jackie Wilson album. Then came Sam Cooke, James Brown, and a host of others. I began studying the Saxophone as a student at Joseph A. Craig Elementary. Mrs.Wilson (the Instrumental Music Teacher) went from class to class asking students who wanted to learn how to play an instrument. My hand went up immediately. She started me off on a Tonet. Then I graduated to clarinet and then the Alto Saxophone. I stuck with the instrument & my mom got me some private lessons at Houston For Music. My private instructor was Mr. Jordan. Later on I learned to know him as Kidd Jordan. He taught me to sight read, along with practicing long tones and ear training.Unknown to me, at music my recital i was performing the music charts of the Houston Big Band as a finale. I was shocked and surprised to learn that I was performing with the Houston Big Band at age 11. I joined the band at Andrew J . Bell Jr. High under Mr. Donald Richardson. I was in the Marching, Concert & Orchestra Ensembles as well as the Saxophone Quartet where we won Awards every year for three consecutive years while at Bell School competing in the LMEA State Competitions.
I then went to Joseph S. Clark High School where I was section leader . While at Clark I jammed with several garage bands until Forming the Local Group “Family Players” . We played lots of proms and private functions.I then attended Dillard University where I performed with the Jazz Ensemble while studying to be an Educator. The Family Players Band also toured the College circuit and got an opportunity to open up for the Bar- Kays. As I got older I was selected to join the Professionals who was the back up band for Irma Thomas. I am presently the Band Leader for 2006 Grammy Winner Irma Thomas. we have toured the World extensively and perform at all Major Festivals Worldwide. I also formed my own Smooth Jazz Group “N-Fusion” where we performed at many local venues.
I also perform and record with Ms. Thomas, Wanda Rouzan, Marcia Ball, Big Al Carson, The Just Right Band(JRB), Kermit Ruffins , John Boutte , Linda Wright & The Heartbeats of Praise and many other artist locally, nationally and internationally. I also share my musical talents at several local churches, schools, and many private functions.
